Peaceful Pentagon:
Visual Experience
An excerpt from the book for this personal project titled "Shards Within a Pentagon:
The Visual Experience" discussing peaceful design.
Peaceful Design happens to be very important for the world yet can be undermined in its large status and power.
To get a good designer that understands peaceful design isn’t easy. In current times the battle against destructive design and design that benefits the world in a positive light grows. This project is meant to first understand peace, secondly understand each aspect of how parts of a whole creates that peace, and then reveal the larger picture as an experience where the viewer has a much better understanding of what they’re looking at.
I see this as being an experience visual tour where the viewer can feel free to learn without being forced to learn in an enjoyable way. Comfortably calm as they gain knowledge on these topics and are able to at the same time reflect. Although humans will be the main physical entity called out as a direct targeted conversation with the project, so will the things that cater to human livelihood which is what brings balance to the world, and the ecosystem. This aspect must be highlighted to help humans remind themselves of unchecked bias, careless decisions, as well as morally challenge them.
Think if you were in this creature or in its place would you be able to handle what is happening in this world? Structure and psychology, the less alive aspect for this project is about human interaction with the world based on their thinking and beneficial experience. Creating parks, and man-made recreational structures, arrangement of plants, trees, if any plants at all, the physical structures such as building offices, homes, factories are all of importance. Alike, so are the colors, materials, and desired shapes which a human may decide on based simply on human programming (enjoying circles, certain colors, or sounds).
These aspects easily affect the balance of the world and currently is. Small temporary scale has allowed people to forget and ignore so for this reason I choose to use a larger scale to allow the viewer to have to pay attention without being visually forced, focusing on the undermining attention span using recognizable visual structured imagery for easy observation.
